Once Bittern at Norfolk Punt Club

The annual NPC Bittern open took place Sunday in glorious sunshine, balmy temperatures and  a moderate NNE.

At the start of the first race, the wind played some awful tricks on competitors all the way to the windward mark, but filled and settled during the race. John Atkinson in Boomer led the whole way to set the trend for the event.

Bruce Thompson, in Kedgy Gal, executed a brilliant first leg in the second race to lead all the way, only to be overtaken by Boomer on the last leg!

The third race was a repeat of the first, with Boomer taking the Transom Trophy and Kedgy Gal runner-up.

Meanwhile, in club racing, the Commodore, Drew Wilton, crewed by his daughter Elska, stamped his authority on the fleet with an emphatic 4 wins out of 4, although the margin in the final race was just 3 seconds from Simon Daniels in Silver Blue!

Daniels had his own moment of glory by taking line honours in the Yare and Bure class race.
