What's New   (last updated on 20 November 2011)

WELCOME

The Norfolk Punt Club sails every Sunday during the summer and on Tuesdays evenings through the early summer on Barton Broad. We are a family based club and welcome new members. Please feel free to contact one of our flag officers: commodore@puntclub.co.uk, vicecommodore@puntclub.co.uk, or rearcommodore@puntclub.co.uk

The club is based on pontoons on the broad and you will need to get a lift out with our dories unless you own your own boat.

We have started and what a start it was to the 2011 sailing season and what a strange couple of weekends sailing it has been!

Sunday 8th May and the weather man got it entirely wrong. Far from the promised thunderstorms we had wonderful sunshine with exciting sailing conditions for the few who were prepared to "give it a try".
It was in fact a great picnic with chocolate and coffee cake served in normal NPC style.
Oh....... and the racing was very close amongst the Whiteboat fleet with the lead changing as many times as boats entered.
The Juniors also put in a spirited performance in gusty conditions with Eliza Bolton in her Topper showing the Mason twins a clean pair of heels only to be beaten on handicap by James.

The Vice Commodore wrote on Sunday 1st May:

The Punt Club opened its sailing season in customary fashion. A convivial B.B.Q. on the Saturday evening which turned into a celebration of the new arrival to the Barton Whiteboat Fleet , Honeycomb No. 135 for Paul and Carol Watson. Sunday sailing was simply blown away after hardy souls in Lasers, Toppers Wayfarers and a Whiteboat proved it was feasible whilst the remaining members of the club enjoyed saailing vicariously from the comfort of the Tea Hut! Next week we race!!!

Now the new sailing season is nearly upon us. Have you booked your berth at the club, volunteered for some duties? No, well it is the time to sort it out, especially the Duty Rota that is filling up fast. If you have not got your name down yet and want to choose a date Email David Adler right now. We are running training for young and old. Details of the junior training and junior week are on the website and news of adult training will follow.
